Possibility for China to catch up with

　　Huang Xiaoyong, who is the professor of the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the director of the International Energy and Safety Research Center, took part in the interview, whose topic was "speed up the transformation of the mode of economic development", and communicate with netizens online.

　　[Moderator] Last year, China became the largest automobile consumer market. There were 95 sets of new energy vehicles in this year's Beijing auto show, and the number of new energy vehicles accounted for nearly one-tenth of the number of participating vehicle. The industrialization of new energy vehicles even were considered as the biggest point of the Beijing auto show. Some analysts said that according to the situation of government’s automotive policies, investment from automakers, product series and technical level, the Beijing auto show would become a turning point of new energy vehicles. In last few years, the automakers have developed their own technology of new energy vehicles, but they will go on the road of rapid development. How do you understand the development of new energy vehicles in our country?

　　[Huang Xiaoyong] New energy vehicles are significant for the auto industry of our country and machine-building industry in our country. What’s more, it has a very broad and deep impact to people’s daily life. Both in developed countries and in developing countries, the development of new energy vehicles is at the same level. In the last, we were behind the developed countries on the development of conventional vehicles. But, we have a possibility to catch up with developed countries in the new energy vehicles field. So new energy vehicles an opportunity for the development of automobile industry. In this year's Beijing auto show, there were more than 90 sets of new energy vehicles. So we can say, to develop new energy vehicles is not only the development trend of the world automobile industry, but also the development trend of Chinese automobile industry.

　　Bur now there are a number of problems of new energy vehicles, one of which is the technology is still in the stage of exploration and we have not established mature technology system. Secondly, the price of new energy vehicles is still so high that most of the consumers cannot afford them. Thirdly, under the present circumstances, when you buy a new energy vehicle, there are some inconveniences to use and maintain.
