  Shenzhen News learned from Shenzhen United Auto Show Management Co Ltd. yesterday, Shenzhen - Hong Kong – Macao International Auto Show, which will be held on 10th – 15th June in Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, will bring a brand new concept of three-city exhibition to the public for the first time. The auto show this year will be reach nearly 100,000 square meters space. Comparing to last year, it has a great breakthrough, whose scale has expanded 20 percent. This Shenzhen –Hong Kong – Macao International Auto Show will also become the warfare front for European and American vehicles to start their battles in the car market of South China.

  First time ever three cities exhibit together

  According to Shenzhen United Auto Show Management Co. Ltd., since 2009, the auto shows in Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao combine together as one. The merged auto show is named as “2009 Shenzhen – Hong Kong – Macao International Auto Exhibit” and the scale of this show is almost 100,000 square meters, which is 20% more than 80,000 square meters of last year. Beginning from this auto show, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao will continue to enhance cooperation of exhibition, forum, event, promotion and audience organization, enlarge the promotion intensity in Hong Kong, Macao and Southern China and organize special reporter group from Hong Kong and Macao to visit the exhibition. This Auto Show will also open up a specific hall for Hong Kong and Macao to show the private cars of tycoons and stars, who come from Hong Kong, Macao and all over the world. These precious collections will include limited-edition luxury cars, racing cars and so on.

  The General Manager of Shenzhen United Auto Show Management Co. Ltd. Meng Bin said the culture of Hong Kong and Macao has influenced the culture of Shenzhen and Southern China in many ways. In the automobile culture, they have great impacted particularly for the consumption of imported vehicles and luxury cars. The modified car in Hong Kong and Macao’s automotive movement are the pioneers and models in South of China. With the increasing of the connection between Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao, Shenzhen – Hong Kong – Macao International Auto Show will have more opportunity to become the wind vane for the automobile market in Southern China. At the same time, Hong Kong and Macao, as famous international cities, their influential media’s power will be also able to elevate this auto show.

  Shenzhen becomes battle field of European and American cars

  At Guangzhou Auto Show last year, Dr. Winfried Vahland, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, has made it very clear that it will focus mainly the market operations in South of China in order to increase Volkswagen’s market share in the southern China. It is understood that the south market has been always the soft spot or Volkswagen. Volkswagen’s market share in southern China is only about 10%, which is nearly 18.9% in the overall Chinese market. Combing the sales amount of three car tycoons from German and American automotives, it takes up barely one-third of the market share, far less than Japanese car.

  The Reporter finds out that this year’s Shenzhen - Hong Kong – Macao International Auto Show will become the forward battle field to fight over southern market. According to Shenzhen United Auto Show Management Company, in this year’s auto show, Volkswagen has the largest exhibition area, and launches the most strategic vehicle types. On the one hand, Volkswagen wishes to demonstrate company’s product abilities through the auto show. On the other hand, it shows that Volkswagen values very much the market in Shenzhen and southern. As the representative of American cars, Shanghai Volkswagen and ChangAn Ford also station troops in the South of China. Shanghai Volkswagen has risen to a higher level for the participation, and gives their best to attend this auto show. In addition, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Skoda and other European and American brands upgrade the level and area in this auto show.

  Meng Bin said, Guangzhou is the production base of three Japanese brands and the customers have the preference of Japanese autos. It’s not easy for new European and American auto models to shake the status of Japanese cars in the Guangzhou market. Shenzhen is a young city of immigrants. The local automobile market has showed not obvious characteristic of the consumption of local cars, but the micro characteristic of national automotive consumption market. Viewing from the data of vehicles with license plates in these two years, the sales amount of automobiles in Shenzhen has already jumped over Guangzhou and become the largest market in Guangdong. To take on Shenzhen market first and then Guangzhou market, is one offensive route with less resistance, which is be chosen by many manufacturers.
