Shanghai GM
Performance of Shanghai GM was very great in the first half of 2010 with most of its affiliate brands and models sold well. Following more than 1 million unit sales in May in Chinese car market, its sales in June still kept a high level. In June, Shanghai GM sold 176,486 units, which increased by 23.2% compared with the same period of last year. Cumulative sale of Shanghai GM from January to June was 1.209138 million units, up 48.5% year on year and achieved a high growth rate. Among China's own brands, Chery achieved the best performance, with sales reached 268,400 units from January to May. Task completion rate of Chery was 38.34%.Both total sales and task completion rate of Chery ranked first among China's own brands.
Second, the auto manufacturer with the highest goal
Changan Auto
Sale of Changan Auto was 326,200 units (including micro-car) from January to June. The above figure can guarantee Changan a good place among own brands sales ranking, but its preliminary sales goal was 1.3 million units. We need to think highly of Changan's ambition, however, its ambition didn't contribute a lot to its sale in the first half of 2010, and to the contrary its task completion rate was only 25.1%, ranking the last(until May) among own brands. To conclude, dream is wonderful but reality is brutal.
Third, car model with the fastest progress
Many people thought SUV market would be the fastest growth market in the first half of 2010. For one thing, SUV market has been in a sustainable growth for several years. For another thing, an increasing number of auto manufacturers begin entering SUV market. According statistics from China Automotive Technology and Research Center, cumulative sales of SUV was 373,900 units in the first half of 2010, up 87.06% year on year. China's own brands, joint venture brands and imported brands dominate SUV market.
However, growth rate of SUV market still fell behind MPV market. In the first half of 2009, growth rate of MPV fell behind growth rate of passenger car and it was the last model that finally got of downturn period. In the first half of 2010, with emerging of family MPV market sales potential and more and more commercial activities, performance of MPV market was attractive. Cumulative sale of MPV was 162,400 units in the first half of 2010, up 101.47% compared with the same period of last year.
Fourth, The most attractive policy
Fuel-efficient products benefiting the public
As low season coming and theory of turning point prevailing, issue of subsidy policies stimulated Chinese car market. On June 30, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Ministry of Finance officially announced 71 fuel-efficient models promotion list that first integrated into fuel-efficient products benefit the public project. These models passed fuel consumption record and won the national compulsory product certification (3C certification), and integrated operating condition of fuel consumption is 20% lower than the current standard. Chinese government will provide consumers who purchase fuel-efficient cars with 3000 RMB subsidy and the fund will be paid by auto manufacturers in the process of sales. At present, some auto enterprises started the subsidy. Although subsidy hasn't arrived, it has received recognition from many consumers.
Fifth, the strongest star
Why we say personality of Dongfeng Honda CR-V is strong? It is because despite various recall crisis and growth rate of Chinese car market began slowing, price of CR-V is still stable since went public as well as created many sales records, which helped it become a legend in the Chinese car market. Though CR-V has launched for three years, demand for it still exceeds supply. Consumers have to wait for mentioning it, which makes many auto enterprises surprised. With Dongfeng Honda expanded its production capacity, sales of CR-V gradually exceeded 10 thousand units in the first half 2010, until June monthly sales of CR-V reached 13504 units and created a monthly sales record.
