Fu Yuwu: 13 Major Automakers to Reach

  On July 16 the annual meeting of Society of Automotive Engineers of China was held in the city of Changchun. China's 13 major automobile manufacturers including SAIC, FAW, Chang'an, Dongfeng, Beijing Auto, Guangzhou Auto, Chery, Geely, BYD and Brilliance will jointly announce the Innovation of Technologies Win-Win Cooperation Changchun Consensus of First Chinese Automotive Technology Heads Summit.

  Changchun Consensus was raised by Fu Yuwu, the Secretary General of Society of Automotive Engineers of China. 13 major automakers have discussed about the consensus. The main contents include supporting a number of auto parts manufacturers with international competitiveness and establishing international standards through the opportunity of development of new energy technologies. In addition, government, manufacturer and research institution should be combined. Moreover, the academic atmosphere should be active.

  Two key points of Changchun consensus: innovation and cooperation.

  Fu Yuwu said the first key point of Changchun consensus is innovation, and another key point is cooperation. 10 points of Changchun consensus actually were these two points. Lack of Innovation and autonomy make the 10 points no sense. The cooperation has two aspects. One is to reach a consensus on independent innovation. Through production, learning, research and industry cooperation, various sides to reach a consensus. Because you are with foreign brands, but technology is the source of others, what are you doing? There is no space for you to prove yourself, but you can achieve it through independent innovation. Then we need to establish a relationship between competition and cooperation.

  Our aim is to break through the core technology. So we are not association, and the association may be entrepreneurs. They will reach their consensus, but we are engineering and technology sector. We have to take technology into account and break through the core technology. What is the core technology? It is thing that an enterprise can not do it. This bottleneck need to be accomplished by the industry's best resources and this is called the core technology. So at this moment our cooperation is important than anything else. We have managed Auto Lighter Union well, which is a cross-sector and interdisciplinary alliance. It consists of materials industry, metallurgy industry, some research institutions, and there are five OEMs. All the details of lighter processing, choice of each part, what kind of lightweight design technology, what kind of process technology, and choice what kind of material are all contributed. Is it possible before? It is definitely impossible. Geely contributed its cars, B pillar with the hot forming, high strength steel used in which kind of technology, how they are calculated out were all contributed, and such as Dongfeng contributed its experience in cars. I have been in auto industry for my life, and this kind of cooperation was impossible before. Visits are also not allowed, and let me donate my core technology was impossible. But now it is possible. We recognize lose and companies including Delphi, Bosh and Denso dominate 80% of share of auto electronics and high pressure common rail system. So we give up and rely on cooperation.
