Rufus Yerxa, the Deputy Director-General of World Trade Organizations, gave a speech in the Global Automotive Forum. He pointed out that we have to face the global shortage of resources and the possibility that the energy prices may continue to rise. Therefore we should face those challenges together and find a solution. At the same time, the connections in the field of global trade have become closer. Due to the periodic fluctuations of global economy, the global trade volume dropped by 20% in the past two years. Though during this period the recovery of some Asian economies was significant, other markets in the world suffered development pressure to various degrees.
Rufus Yerxa also said that cooperation and innovation will play an important role during the development of global automotive industry. Due to his job, Mr. Yerxa has been living in Europe and the United States for a long time. He though that currently automotive industry is faced with a number of challenges. In the future, the global auto industry will become more comprehensive and international. In this context, global cooperation, especially technical cooperation and innovation will be an inevitable trend. He would like to take the opportunity of Global Automotive Forum to have some in-depth exchanges of ideas with insiders of Chinese automotive industry. (Translator: Qinghua/Hanxin)
