September:Auto market strong sales growth

    Production and Sales both exceeded 1.5 million

  The growth rate of passenger cars was higher than commercial cars. The total production and sales from January to September exceeded 13 million units. Guangzhou Automobile and Dongfeng Nissan both released its own brand this month, which became the focus.   Description: MIIT brewing auto industry mergers and acquisitions.

  In the views of State Council on the promotion of the corporate mergers and acquisitions, the auto industry ranked in the sixth place.

  The views require “further implement the restructuring and revitalization of key industries to build competitive enterprises bigger and stronger”. For the implementation of spirit of the views, the MIIT has set up a drafting group to proceed and develop specific mergers and acquisitions business policies, which are to be announced at the end of 2010.   Comments: In accordance with the requirements of planning, the MIIT had previously worked out policies and measures to promote merger and reorganization of the auto business, but they were difficult to be implemented because of too specific, and ultimately were not disclosed. This time, the MIIT would definitely still face this problem.

  Description: Nissan released its own brand Venucia.

  September 8, Nissan released a high-profile brand Venucia, which bearing Dongfeng Nissan’s industrial dream in Beijing.   Description: New Tiggo was launched in China auto market.

  The high-profile new Tiggo was listed in Chengdu International Auto Show, priced at 86,800 to 115,800 Yuan. The new dynamic style front design makes the car more dynamic and stylish. 1.6S new supercharged engine of Tiggo is China’s first supercharged engine, with a maximum power of 110KW, and a maximum torque of 205N/M, fuel consumption is 7.7L per hundred kilometers under integrated road.

  The Tiggo has distinctive features of strong power, fast response, free maintenance and less fuel consumption. Compared with the common engines with the same displacement, the power of this model has increased by 40% to 2.4L power levels while fuel consumption is quite equal to that of 1.6 naturally aspirated engines. The acceleration time within a hundred kilometer is only 11.2S.

  Description: new COROLLA was listed in China auto market.

  After the first two batches of energy-saving cars directories released in June and September, the third batch was announced this month, including 74 car models under brands of Great Wall Automobile, Shanghai Auto, BYD, Dongfeng Motor, Chang’an Mazda, Shanghai Volkswagen and others. Consumers purchasing these 74 car models can enjoy the 3,000 national energy subsidies. Among the third batch of energy-saving car directory, independent brands accounted for 63.5%. The energy-saving cars directory can accelerate product and technology updating efforts of independent car brands to a certain extent.

  Comments: For consumers, the appealing of 3,000 Yuan is equal to the purchase tax halved policy. Subsidies for energy-saving vehicles not only benefit consumers, but also can stimulate the domestic automobile enterprises to increase the R& D of small-displacement models and new products, which would play an important role in driving the auto sales in the fourth quarter.

  September 30

  Description: the total sales of CR-V reached 100,000 in the first nine month of this year.

  From January to September of this year, the total sales of CR-V reached 102,013 units; market share exceeded more than 10%, once again ranked the first place in the SUV segment. This is also the second time for CR-V to become the champion after last year’s 100,000units.

  At the same time of CR-V’s triumph, as a newcomer of the industry, Dongfeng Honda Automobile also gained higher than the industry average growth rate. In September, Dongfeng Honda Automobile sold 24,226 vehicles. The monthly sales grew 12.6% compared to the same period of last year and 14.6% compared with August. After the new high-end sports car SPIRIOR entered into the segment, Dongfeng Honda has begun to change the situation only conquers the market by one or two products.

  Comments: Although this year is called the first year of China’s SUV market and many major auto companies are introducing urban SUV products, which increase market competition quickly, the CR-V is still the only model in this market segment can sell over 100,000 cars in one month.
