Claude Vajsman: JV to build own brands

　　On May 6, PSA Peugeot Citroen Group and China Changan Automotive Group announced the two sides would form a joint venture after negotiations. Claude Vajsman, PSA Peugeot Citroen Group Executive Vice President and CEO of PSA China accepted interviews of news media including Sohu Auto.

　　Asked what kinds of brands products of the new joint venture will use, Claude Vajsman said the new joint venture should have own brands. “In the process of negotiating, relevant regulators at Chinese government advised us to have own brands. It is beneficial for us so we are still discussing, and there is still no conclusion”, said Claude Vajsman.

　　In addition, it still needs discussion about whether new joint venture will use the same dual-brand like DPCA or not. So PSA will discuss its further negotiation with Changan. Claude Vajsman meanwhile disclosed that Peugeot and Citroen have recently carried out change of their vehicle logos so as to form new brand image because it is important for enterprises. “We are still discussing auto brands of the new joint venture, and the two sides would announce that in the future under proper circumstance”, said Claude Vajsma.

　　In terms of factories of the new joint venture, Claude Vajsman pointed out they would choose them according to plans. PSA also need negotiate with Changan on the issue. Everyone knows the Shenzhen base is vacant, but PSA is also considering the case of other plants. The two companies will publish the details after joint venture contract is signed.

　　When it comes to R & D center of the joint venture, Claude Vajsman said though there are no details about establishing a research and development center with Changan. However, according to China's current policies, joint ventures need to set up R & D centers. Consequently, considering joint venture interests PSA and Chang will send the best talents to their joint venture.
