Chen Guozhang: China is listed as most

  On 17th October, “Koleos Cup” Renault F1 All Star Challenge national Final was held on the circuit track in Beijing People's Police College. The reporter of Beijing Evening News saw not only Renault F1 racer Dong Hebing, who just returned from the injury, but also Mr. Chen Guozhang, CEO of Renault Greater China. During the event, the reporter interviewed Mr. Chen Guozhang.

  Chen Guozhang talked about Renault’s sales result this year and ultimate sale goal at first. Chen Guozhang said when he came to China two years ago, Renault sold monthly only 45 sets. With the continuous efforts of Renault China for these two year, the sales by the end of August this year has increased 30 times in two years, and the monthly sales amount, including September, achieves almost 1500 sets for four months in a row. At the same time, from the start of Renault China’s reviving plan two years ago till now, the customer satisfaction has also gained the growth of 265%.

  Chen Guozhang told the reporter: “In 2008, Renault placed at No. 24 in the national imported automobiles. Last year, it ranked No. 19. From January to June this year, our national ranking has jumped to 12th place. It is predicted that Renault will enter the place of top ten in the imported vehicle market in December”. It is worth particular attention that the fierce accelerating process of Renault China depends on the success of the single product Koleos. The sales amount of Koleos is at present the third ranked among the imported SUVs. And in 53 cities, Koleos has already won over the top-ranked opponent.

  Confronting such a fast increase rate, Renault’s final sales figure in China is estimated very conservative. Chen Guozhang said due to the limited production of Renault, along with large demand of automobiles in the entire Asian region, it is difficult to allocate the engine production in the Renault-Nissan alliance. Therefore, Renault China set up this year’s ultimate sales target in 10.000 units.

  Talking about the success receipt of Renault in China, Chen Guozhang believed it owes mainly to two points. First of all, Renault’s product possesses high cost-performance ratio. Although the pricing of many imported vehicles is left out some room for price cut, Renault has always been setting its products with a rather practical and reasonable price. It helps Renault to have a high cost performance, which other imported brands don’t possess, and the rate of maintaining value of products is rather high. The second reason is that the sales of mouth marketing are getting better and better. At a Renault’s dealer in the north region, the sales has reached 60% by mouth marketing in one mouth, meaning 60% of customers are introduced by friends who has already purchased Renault’s automobile to buy Renault.

  For a very long time, Renault is just a brand for minority in China and its development’s pace in China falls behind many other car manufacturers. Facing the explosive Chinese automobile market, in the new global strategic plan released in February next year, where will be the Chinese market placed? To answer this question, which many journalists are very interested, Chen Guozhang expressed in the past year, both of Renault’s return on profit and sales development in China are best in the world. On the other hand, the acceptance of Chinese market to Renault brand has improved very much. Combining these two aspects, China has been placed into the most important framework of developing markets in the world.

  Besides, Chen Guozhang revealed also Renault headquarter has decided to set up a special committee aim to the Chinese market for targeted planning. However, more specific information and following specific actions for Renault’s developments in China, will be disclosed gradually for the customers in the Chinese market over time.

  Different with veiling large movements of Renault’s Chinese developments, Chen Guozhang gave the clear answer regarding the specific sales plan and sales target of Renault China for next year. Chen Guozhang said, early next year, five brand-new automobile models including Megane CC, Lagunacoupe, Latitude, Scenic will enter the domestic market and be officially on sale. Renault China expects the overall sales amount in the next year will be able to increase with doubled speed.

  In addition, Chen Guozhang told the reporter regarding the electric vehicles, Renault has already received an order of 200 sets of imported pure electric vehicles. At the first phase, it will introduce five sets. But due to the current immature laws and regulations about imported pure electric vehicles, this plan is still in the preparation stage. As soon as the conditions allow, Renault China will introduce these electric vehicles immediately. Renault set the market position for these electric vehicles very high, which will be expected to be the largest and fastest automotive models among the current electric vehicles. Different with other electric vehicles, which are provide to the government to try out, Renault will offer these electric vehicles mainly to the celebrities and superstars for probation.
