Chen Qingtai: no door betting on existing carmakers to develop new energy vehicles
2010 China Green Energy Automotive Development Summit Forum was held in December 1st in Beijing Convention Center. In the intermittent, SOHU AUTO interviewed former Director of the State Council Industrial Economics Research Department Mr. Chen Qingtai. As for the issue of the current investment boom and market access of new energy vehicle and core components, he said a major technological breakthrough has provided an opportunity for new entrants who own the new technologies while it is unrealistic to bet on the existing carmakers to develop new energy vehicles.
Currently, there has been overheated in the new energy vehicle field, in particular battery. In this regard, Chen Qingtai said that the current development of new energy vehicles in China in general is healthy, but the Government still has to improve the laws and regulations related to quality of new energy vehicles, technology, and security and strictly enforce to prevent the herd and avoid negative impacts on social environment and resources of repeated low-level construction.
However, in the above premise, the Government, especially local governments should allow enterprises to independently investigate the market and choose the investment direction rather interfere too much in the new energy automotive sector.
