　　Wang Yunshi: competition in new energy vehicle standards started

　　While the pure electric vehicles have been designated as the strategic direction of development of new energy vehicles in China, there are still views to develop pure electric vehicle can only transfer pollution and emissions rather save energy and reduce emission because of China's current coal-dominated energy structure.

　　In this regard, Wang believes that there are three reasons for the development of pure electric vehicles: first, the development of pure electric cars will eventually lead to the development of fuel cell cars, the issue of pollution and emissions will only exit in this stage; second, in the future if there are ways coal pollution problem to be solved, such as the development of nuclear power and the exclusion of carbon into the ground, the electric car as a direction of development of new energy vehicles is feasible; Third, Chinese auto industry may have the risk of being kicked out if we do not try pure electric vehicles.

　　He cited the example of the Toyota, when the Toyota was developing Prius hybrid car, other countries did not even have enough attention to hybrids, but then the Prius has achieved huge sales even it itself had not expected. Though developing pure electric cars will arise some risk, we can not afford the costs of “being kicked out”. Meanwhile, He also believed the government and enterprises need to balance investments.

　　In addition, he also introduced China together with the U.S. are seeking cooperation on new energy vehicle standard-setting. “This is really very important for the manufacturers. In terms of the standard of plug-in charger, Japan is currently competing with the United States. Though it is the decisive factor of the development of new energy vehicles, it can actually affect the manufacturing costs and other issues.”
