2010 Changchun Auto forum & SAE-China

　　With the grand opening of the 7th China (Changchun) International Auto Expo, 2010 China (Changchun) International Auto Forum and SAE-China Congress, which took “responsibilities and challenges” and “cars and renewable energies” as the theme, inaugurated in Changchun, July 15, 2010. According to auto sohu.com, a number of mayors from automotive cities, along with above 100 delegates, from government, academia, well-known domestic and international automakers, and mainstream media, attended this event.

    Among them was Wang Rulin, governor of Jilin Province, He Guangyuan, former minister of Ministry of Machine Building, Zhang Xiaoyu, president of Society of Automotive Engineers of China (SAE-China), Guo Konghui, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Fu Yuwu, executive vice president & secretary-general of SAE-China, Dong Yang, vice chairman & secretary-general of SAE-China, Zhao Hang, director of China Automotive Technology and Research Center, Zhong Zhihua, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering & president of Hunan University, Wu Zhaoming, vice general manager of China FAW Group Corporation, Christoph Huss, BMW senior vice president for science and traffic policy & president of the International Federation of Automotive Engineering Societies (FISITA) for the 2008-10 term, Ted Robertson, executive vice president of Magna International & current president of FISITA for the 2010-12 term. Nearly a thousand delegates are expected to attend this congress.

　　On July 15, 2010 China (Changchun) International Auto Forum, which took the theme of “responsibilities and challenges”, opened through forms of speeches and round-table interviews. As the automotive industry is more and more flourishing, the development of urbanization, resources, environment and traffic safety have hindered the development of the economy and became the bottleneck of the harmonies society. The responsibilities of automotive society mainly lie in renewable energies, environmental protection, and traffic safety, which are major channels to build harmonies society, and main contents of the sustainable development of the economy. In terms of resources, environment and traffic safety, reconsidering the development of the economy is social responsibilities and history challenges that automotive industry, cities and academia have to burden and face so as to encourage the sustainable development models, and the core idea of building green GDP. “Cars and Cities” and “Responsibilities and Challenges” round-table interviews were arranged to discuss close relationship between cars and cities in terms of depending on, competing with, promoting, and changing each other.

　　Through forms of speeches, interviews and technical communication, SAE-China Congress on Cars and Renewable Energies kicked off on July 16, 2010, which discussed automotive industry’s visions and channels of some problems in the post-Copenhagen era, including energy crisis and environmental pollution.

　　In order to strengthen communications between directors of technology centers of domestic automakers, and intensify technology innovation and atmospheres of win-win cooperation, SAE-China launched China Automotive Technology Summit during the congress. In the summit, Fu Yuwu, executive vice president & secretary-general of SAE-China, made a speech on the Changchun Consensus of China Automotive Technology Summit, aiming at achieving China as an auto powerhouse, setting up international competitiveness according to ten aspects, mastering core technology, boosting the exploitation capacity, and supporting the development of a range of auto parts suppliers to increase competence. According to Mr.Yu, the Consensus encouraged management innovation, took the opportunity of the development of new energy technology, fortified talent succession, built up a sound technological standard in accordance with international standards, created active academic atmospheres, set up the marketing mechanism to meet demands from home and abroad, and strengthened broad cooperation with other industries.

　　On July 17, 13 parallel technical sessions were organized, including technology of alternative fuel cars and engines, the development of complete vehicles and performances, automobile reliability and evaluation, technology of engineering construction and equipment, automobile safety technology, ultralight auto body technology, fuel cell and new energy automobile, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), modern business management and commercial vehicle technology. During those sessions, experts and engineers exchanged their ideas and conducted heated discussions on niche technologies.

　　To diversify the congress and meet demands of delegates, the sponsor also arranged several activities on 18, including visiting Research Center of China FAW Group Corporation, Dynamic and Simulation Laboratory of Jilin University, and Changchun International Auto Expo.
