Japan's auto parts industrial park to be built in Jiangsu
A new automobile-parts industrial park which consists of Japanese small and medium manufacturers will be established in Jiangsu Province.
On May 24, National Business Daily learned from the Investment Promotion Bureau of Danyang, Jiangsu that the city of Danyang and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) will jointly establish an industrial park. This industrial park will be used for the production of Japanese automobile parts and put into operation in November.
Japan's manufacturing industry suffered from the giant earthquake. According to the unadjusted statistics about the conditions of commerce in April, which were released by Japan's Ministry of Finance on May 25, auto exports totaled 255.3 billion yen, down by 67% year on year, reaching the lowest level since January 1979. At present, Japanese companies are accelerating relocating the automobile industry chain. As the marginal segment, small and medium automobile parts manufacturers are transferring their industry chain by making use of several new industrial bases including the city of Danyang.
According to the introduction to the program, Japan Auto Parts Industrial Park (JAPIC) will mainly consist of Japanese small and medium enterprises. It will become a first-class auto parts industrial park in China, covering four functional areas-metal processing area, electrical and electronic area, resin and rubber area and fiber and others area.
According to the introduction, the industrial park covers an area of 310 mus and the overall construction area totals 103,000 square meters. The first-phase project will cover an area of 2,500 square meters and it is expected to be put into operation in November this year. According to the plan, the project of Japan Auto Parts Industrial Park will be divided into two phases. The first part is Japan Auto Parts Industrial Park (JAPIC) and the latter part is Japan Automobile Equipment Industrial Park (JAEIC).
Yin Hui, the Deputy Director of Investment Promotion Bureau of Danyang Economic Development Zone, told National Business Daily that according to the agreement, Japanese automobile parts manufacturers will produce high-tech products in Danyang. China will strictly supervise the process of approval.
Affected by the giant earthquake, Japan's auto parts supply system was once stagnant, causing a huge impact on automobile manufacturers. Therefore, Japan's small and medium auto parts manufacturers will speed up the pace of establishing plants in other countries.
"It is expected that 30 to 50 enterprises will be stationed in Japan Automobile Parts Industrial Park by the end of this year. In the next three years, there will be 300 Japanese auto parts companies," said Yin Hui.
At present, the industrial park is under construction. Yin Hui revealed that Japan Automobile Parts Industrial Park would be put into use by the end of 2012. (Translator: Qinghua/Hanxin)
